Sandness is a thriving remote, rural community on the far west mainland of Shetland. It is a 30 mile, 45 minute journey from Shetland’s main town Lerwick, with the last 7 miles along a winding single track road through the hills. We have a small, but active community with 160 residents living beside beautiful coastline and stunning scenery. There is plenty to offer nature lovers, walkers and boating enthusiasts.
This website is run by Sandness Community Development Ltd, a community led organisation, working to support a safe, strong, sustainable and self-reliant community.
